I am delighted to say that Austin Macauley have agreed to publish my collection of short stories, entitled "The DukeDog and other Stories".
The stories are varied in subject matter and in tone. Most have some humour in them. The first one is about a very interesting large dog. I will say no more: no spoilers.
There is a story vaguely influenced by Cinderella, and one reminiscent of Jack and the Beanstalk. Another relates to weather forecasting in ways not previously undertaken.
There are stories about goings-on at Christmas and at Halloween. There one about a man who does strange things with his television. In another we find an unusual sort of trainspotter.
I wrote most of them whilst recovering from knee-replacement surgery. Ideas came to me when trying unsuccessfully to sleep at night, or during the two-hour periods when I was expected to lie on my bed during the day. (Daytime television can be irritating after a while.)
As soon as I was able to sit comfortably at my computer, I started to get the stories written down.
There do not seem to be many collections of short stories on the market which I have been written recently. I was not sure whether the publisher would be interested in this type of fiction, but I was very pleased that my work was accepted for publication.
